Today, the fetid breath of fascism filled the nostrils of everyone who

cherishes liberty, values reason and has even a little appreciation for our nation's history.

Most of the attention has gone to Trump's rollback of the federal requirement that employee insurance coverage must include birth control pills and devices. Now, employers can omit that coverage if it "violates sincere religious beliefs". This change is due to Trump's well-known adherence to biblical standards of conduct and Christian principles.

Less publicized, but arguably more damaging, was Attorney General Session's "guidelines" for prosecutors that, in large measure, simply adopt the preferences of religious fundamentalists. In all aspects of the prosecutors' jobs, they are to refer to these new guidelines, which apparently will allow any employer to disregard any laws which they claim "violate sincerely held religious beliefs" even if those beliefs are not tenets of their religion. Prosecutors are admonished "not to second guess the reasonableness" of an employer's stated beliefs.

So, of course birth control and abortion are suddenly going to be non-covered expenses on lots of employee insurance policies. But, do you really think these reptiles will stop there?

Unmarried and pregnant? That's your expense, slut!

Same sex partner or spouse? Your job has been eliminated.

Jewish, Catholic, atheist or otherwise not of the employer's religious persuasion? Bye, sinner!

And, since all truly religious folks are Republicans, was that YOUR name on a contributor list for a LIBTARD?

If you did not realize it before, it is now clear: it's them or us. "What are you prepared to do?"

Another thing Sessions did today was to proclaim that the definition of “sex” in the equal rights clause of the Civil Rights Act would only be enforced to mean “biological” sex....so no longer will our country’s Justice Department side with trans workers who experience discrimination in the work place! Has there ever been an Attorney General in the modern era who has worked so hard to roll back the civil rights of so many Americans???

"that the government sanction of a religion was, in essence, a threat to religion"

http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/americas-true-history-of-religious-tolerance-61312684/?no-ist=;

Madison also made a point that any believer of any religion should understand: that the government sanction of a religion was, in essence, a threat to religion. "Who does not see," he wrote, "that the same authority which can establish Christianity, in exclusion of all other Religions, may establish with the same ease any particular sect of Christians, in exclusion of all other Sects?" Madison was writing from his memory of Baptist ministers being arrested in his native Virginia. ting from his memory of Baptist ministers being arrested in his native Virginia.

those things in question must SINCERELY violate their "religious beliefs". This isn't just a willy-nilly rollback of these rights, they have to be sincere! So there's that.

I think Trump et al. are trying to do away with as many of these protections as they can, because they know the end to their illegal fascist power grab is soon coming to an end. BUT THE END CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGH!

Then our next Democratic President, with both Houses of Congress in Democratic control, can erase every trace of this disgusting human being from our country's history. Beyond that, I don't just want Trump to be convicted and imprisoned, I WANT HIS HEAD ON A FUCKING PLATTER!
