(45,409 posts)the moral decay of liberal Democrats taking God out of everything, along with the associated guilt, fire, brimstone, and hate spewing. Apparently people would be less likely to do thinks that lead toward meeting their maker if we simply put the fear of God back into them.
Except for the terrorists who believe God wants them to do it. Or something...

J'espère que tu n'attends pas de réponse.
Tu as plus de chances de voir un jour Merkel et May lever la cuisse au Moulin Rouge dans un French cancan endiablé que d'avoir une réponse...

(54,330 posts)Tu as toute à fait raison!
Par rapport à ta première question--je demanderai à Indiana Jones la prochaîne fois que je le vois. Personellement, je n'ai pas eu cette tasse en main. Lui, par contre.......

(5,101 posts)In fact, you will hear more often "lever la jambe".
I took a liberty with "cuisse" instead of "jambe".
There is another expression but the meaning is completely different which, I can safely say, can't be applied either to Ms May or Ms Merkel.
"Avoir la cuisse légère". It litteraly means having a light tie. It is used to refer to a woman who cheated on her husband.

(54,330 posts)My wife is on her way back here from a week in Greece, my elder daughter has had a busy week in NYC, and the younger one has been busy all over Europe trying to prove that mine is not the most strenuous travel schedule after all, although considering Howard Dean's schedule this past week, I think he has us all beat.

(54,330 posts)It has always been used to drive a wedge between people who otherwise would have everything in common. My wife retired early from the Catholic Church when in her small town, Protestant children were told not to play with her because she was Catholic. Other Catholics (NOT her parents, by the way) told her not to play with Protestant kids. A few centuries ago, they fought wars here over this. She finally just decided there was no sense in any of it.

(5,101 posts)Specifically the 3 religions of the Book. All copied on one another with "improvements" thru the millenniums.
It reminds me a discussion we had once in a family event. It was about religions and the spiritual traditions. My mother-in-law asked me what was said in Islam.
My answer flied almost before she ends her question : the same in Arabic...
This said, I strongly believe we have a lot to learn from the 3 religions.
Please, don't misunderstand me : I'm not thinking of rituals or way to go but...of marketing.
Existing for an average of 2 millenniums for each, implies a full mastery of marketing skills...
Do you think Coca-cola, P&G or any major multinational company will still exist in the year 4017 ?
