Hard to believe that once in America the Nazi Party was being touted as the bulwark against Communism and seen as a force to contain Russia.
Of course the Nazi marching is the main focus, but notice the men in the crowd, each wearing a suit and wearing a hat - different times.

(21,846 posts)The spectators are all men. I could not find a single woman in the crowd but I did see a boy walking with a man, apparently his father.
The spectators are white. This is NYC where there was already a large population of African-Americans and Chinese.
The spectators are thinner than the average group of people you would see today.

Oh, and another possible on the right edge vertically centered.

I wonder why. Were fights expected and so women stayed away?

Since the mid-19th Century, Yorkville had been the favored destination of German immigrants, although that was starting to wane around the time of the march.
It's quite jarring to look at. There's even a guy giving the Nazi salute on the far right side, in front of 'Famous Restaurant'.
