Even if you cash in your chips today, Congress has seriously slashed the capital gains attached to this profit. That's not paying off the national debt even rhetorically.

Generate revenue without touching the common people, what a concept!

Fixed math, tax would need to be slightly bigger.

What exactly is a transaction? They do tax you when you sell. I have money in the market for retirement and make 60k per year. Am I not common?

Stock trader Bob buys $10k in company X stock
He sells it later for $11k

He already would be taxed on the $1k in capital gains today
What I would like is a 0.05% tax on the transaction - $5.50 - which would be handled by the broker.

NYSE volume exceeding $200 billion per day and 250 trading days a year, this would give us $25 billion per year

The average person wouldn't feel it, we're not day trading. It would suppress high frequency automated trading, which could be a net positive

These people bought into his nonsense before the election, so he can continue to feed them absolute bull sh*t and they act like it was a very beautiful chocolate cake. Right now, he is in a mode to stop the bleeding from his base. So we are going to see and hear a barrage of utter nonsense aimed squarely at his dullard base.

who have a better understanding of how the economy and the national debt works. The whole damn country has its head in the sand and is pretending that we aren't in as much real danger as we are.

The head of state is not tethered to reality. That has consequences.

I can't believe how this keeps getting so much worse each week. If this was a book I would stop reading it.

This is the same as saying, wow, I am glad my neighbor got a raise, I won't have to make my car payments anymore.

And where is there any honor on Wall Street?

This man has no understanding of anything related to his job. He just pulls things out of his ass to make himself look good without any consideration of the facts. The problem is, there are so many stupid people in this country they believe what comes out of his mouth because they don't know anything either.
