https://www.yahoo.com/gma/former-nfl-coach-mike-ditka-says-absolutely-seen-195026324--abc-news-topstories.htmlAll of a sudden, it has become a big deal now, about oppression there has been no oppression in the last hundred years that I know of, he said.
Historical counterexamples quickly flooded social media: Jim Crow laws, sanctioned lynchings, denying women the right to vote, Japanese internment, among others.
In a statement Tuesday, Ditka said the characterization of the statement that I made does not reflect the context of the question that I was answering and certainly does not reflect my views throughout my lifetime. I have absolutely seen oppression in society in the last 100 years and I am completely intolerant of any discrimination.
The former Chicago Bears coach went on to apologize if anyone was offended, saying the interview was specifically about the NFL, and thats where my head was at.

And, seriously people, there's not a chance in hell he was the one who put together this sentence:
The characterization of the statement that I made does not reflect the context of the question that I was answering and certainly does not reflect my views throughout my lifetime. I have absolutely seen oppression in society in the last 100 years and I am completely intolerant of any discrimination.
Come on.

The old line "I'm sorry if YOU are offended" is bullshit.

(17,282 posts)9. That line always pisses me off as well. Why is it so hard to offer a sincere apology?
Wounded Bear
(58,647 posts)10. Easy, because a sincere apology requires admission of wrongdoing...
Can't have that, now, can we?
Iggo
(47,549 posts)11. Any apology with "if" in it is worthless. (n/t)
