I believe that recent events signal blue states that they will be on their own in a disaster because they do not support patriotic GOP values. Not that I have any definitive proof, but the vibes seem to be pointing that way. We are a truly divided country and I see Trump and the GOP fomenting a war between the red and blue states. Trump's recent claims that red states like Iowa and Indiana support NY and California should say something about where we are going.
There is kind of a suggestion of blackmail going on in the electoral domain. New York and California are being framed as traitors to the country. They are too communistic to be a part of the US. Perhaps I am wrong but I just get the sense that we are headed for some really more vicious divisive rhetoric and action.

(3,276 posts)Something Trump said early on after taking office - I don't remember any of the specifics - made me believe that he considers only those who voted for him to be actual citizens. He's that small and petty, and the party is more than willing to follow his lead.

(6,252 posts)Look back at the last trumpcare bill they tried to pass that pulled millions on dollars from blue states and gave them to red states. Not sure were this all began but Palin's "real America" speech in '08 seems like a starting point.
