Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region Forumsseems to me the cabinet could insist cheato have a physical to prove his is fit.
including a full psyche eval, and mri of his head.
doesnt that serve both sides? the dark side should want to shove it in our faces IF he passes. not that that is at all likely.
drag his ass over to walter reed, now.

(26,251 posts)It should, by ALL means, be mandatory, and it should not be conducted by his own, personal Dr. Feelgood.
I don't give a damn about any of his other internal organs - we need to know what's going on with his brain/cognitive abilities.

(70,023 posts)i remember as far back as st ronnie getting it and releasing the results. i could be wrong.
kelly could demand it as a condition of staying on in HIS job.

(5,810 posts)From what can be determined, tRump is a hollow shell of a man. A giant, gaping black hole that never ever gets filled up or closes. Hence, his insatiable need for attention, cheers and some love. Anything less is defined as disrespect to him. I suspect there has been a lot of bowing and scraping going on in the White House and some of the current employees are getting tired of it. Especially since inspite of their best efforts there is nothing to show for it. I bet if you walked up to tRump and shouted at his belly, it would echo.

(4,429 posts)A psych would be highly subjective. They'd dx him with a personality dx - sure. But does that make him unfit?
It makes him an egomaniac - but lots leaders have a similar pathology. He's impulsive? Okay..........does that make him unfit? No, it doesn't.
His IQ is probably low-average. Does that make him unfit? Well, no.
A neuropsych. eval would include a lot of tests, but at the crux of it - he's unfit because we can see that he's unable to function at a level required by his position (okay, required by most positions). This puts it in the realm of his cabinet or with congress. Not a psychiatrist.
I just don't see that a psychiatrist would be able to make this determination. It is within their realm of expertise to make a ruling on competency - but I'm sorry to say: he is competent. In a legal sense, that bar is really, really low (do you know that your lawyer is here to help you? Yes, sir. My lawyer is on my side - those are competency eval questions. I've seen folks with exceptionally low IQ's and schizophrenia pass a competency eval).
The only hope, imo, is that his IQ really has gone down the toilet - and he tests developmentally delayed. Then the psychiatrist would rule unfit. Otherwise.............

(70,023 posts)and an mri would be beyond dispute.
if you have ever taken one you know that it includes a lot of tests of memory and vocabulary. those would be unmistakably bad.

(4,429 posts)It's not in my field of practice to do one (I have a master's in social work), but I've ordered them for my clients and worked with the doctors that conducted them.
A great deal of the report is based on a clinical interview and the patients history. It's highly subjective. Some of the psychometric tests probably seem very quantitative (to some degree they are) - but the way the report is constructed is a whole different matter. Psychiatrists and psychologists know this.
The thing that would not be subjective is if there is a real medical condition (one that you can test for w/MRI). Then you are right: the results are unmistakable. That's why I also said IQ testing. (Also quantifiable).

kelly could demand it, under threat of quitting. the rest of the cabinet would almost have to go along. none of them want to see kelly go.

(70,023 posts)this isnt impeachment, or even invoking the 25th. just setting the stage. and the true believers will be convince he could pass, and they think that will end the debate.
one thing we know about these people is that they are cold, calculating assholes. kelly could make them an offer they can refuse. if he wanted to. i think he is the lynchpin.

eta- at reed, they have protocols for measuring fitness for command. it's a thing there.
