... that Hillary "knew" about Weinstein because "everybody knew", do you have any explanation as to why YOU knew and never spoke up?
TIA!

(11,725 posts)Poor Harvey Firestone has been a bit of a punchline (morbid at that) recently with confusion about Weinstein. The joke hinges on Firestone's unique voice.
But really, I just do not follow Hollywood very much and thought I know the name Weinstein and Miramax, I had not idea that it was an established Hollywood secret.
Conservatives use anything to try to bash liberals, especially Hillary Clinton.
They truly are disgusting people in many ways.

(25,816 posts)Maybe within Hollywood it was an open secret, but -- possibly I'm wrong here -- Hillary was not a Hollywood insider. And I'm willing to bet that lots of erstwhile Hollywood insiders honestly did not know about Weinstein's behavior.
Rather than bitching about those who didn't speak up years ago, let's celebrate those who have.
I've mentioned this in a couple of other posts, and it's worth mentioning here. One crucial reason women don't speak up is that they honestly think they're the only ones. They have ZERO idea that the man had done such things to other women. They feel ashamed, like it's their fault. So they say nothing and hope their bad feelings will go away.
And I'm speaking from experience. I won't go into a lot of detail, and I was never with some prominent person, but in my youth I more than once found myself in a situation that I wasn't comfortable in, didn't know how to get out of, and just went along. More than once. Do not condemn me that this happened more than once. It's a classic example of women having no power.
Trust me, many, many women have been in similar or analogous situations. And if they refuse to talk about them, so be it. They shouldn't have to.
