I grew up in the neighborhood that is destroyed in this video. Still in shock about the whole thing. I drove through what was left of it the other day. Only word I can use to describe it is apocalyptic.

(12,618 posts)I was hanging out with my fiance at a friend's house that night, and we sat there listening to the wind, aghast at how strong it was. We didn't know there was a fire yet.
On the way home we could smell smoke and we were actually south of Santa Rosa at that point. We knew there must be a fire, but that's not uncommon at this time of year. Before going to bed I read a few things on facebook about how there was a fire that had jumped the freeway, and I started to get concerned but was not panicked at that point. I woke up later that morning to cars clogging the roads going south with people fleeing, sirens everywhere, and a sky that was completely filled with smoke. At that point I knew this was no ordinary fire, and that we were in the middle of something huge. It only got even crazier as the day went on.
