With Trump we have crossed the border into absolutely terrifying. Let's hope the generals have a plan and some control.

. . . and it would cross the line.

This country elected Trump as its President. That being the case, the American people have absolutely no right to wish for, much less seek after, extra-constitutional "remedies" to avoid the consequences of their choice. If those consequences include some great calamity befalling the country, so be it.

Constitutionally, the true Presidential "election" took place on December 19, 2016, when the Electors, meeting in the several states, cast their ballots for President. Thereafter, on January 6, 2017, Congress, sitting in joint session, counted those Electoral ballots pursuant to the process established by federal law (3 U.S.C. sec. 15) and announced that Donald Trump had been elected President.

As a matter of logic, much less law, it cannot be said that the election was "stolen." Nothing compelled the Electors to vote as they did. They chose to vote for Trump. He is the lawful President, constitutionally-speaking, and that's all there is to it.

Again, if the ultimate consequence of that is that this is country is destroyed, then this country deserves its destruction. One either believes in self-governance, per the system established by the people of this country, or one doesn't.

Enough of generals rescuing us from ourselves.

I'm all for Constitutional remedies. I made it clear during the 'W' administration that I accepted nothing but.

Having a madman with access to the nuclear football is another matter. It doesn't help that many Republicans themselves are sounding the alarm on this guy.

If it comes to the point where we have a completely unwarranted attempt to use nuclear weapons, I'll be in favor of the generals and the cabinet temporarily using a non-Constitutional remedy until they can make their use of the 25th amendment official.

Violate their oath to defend the Constitution? We don't "do coups" in this country, do we?

If Trump is unfit to serve as President, there are mechanisms under the Constitution to remove him from office. If there is no political will to resort to those mechanisms, so be it.

You either believe in our system of government or you don't.

I will support the generals stopping him. In that situation hopefully the 25th immediately follows.

People are watching way too much TV and movies. The "nuclear football" is not a button. It is a container of codes to authorize a nuclear launch of our various missiles on land and sea plus aircraft. It can't be "hidden". That is plain ridiculous as anyone who knows anything about it knows. There are two nuclear footballs. One is always near the president, 24/7 and one is always near the Commander in Chief of the Air Force Global Strike Command 24/7. Both have the same capability and authority to launch nuclear weapons.
