I'll never forgive George Bush for what he did to this country, but I do believe that beneath that greed, incompetence and layers of 'daddy' issues, there just might beat something that resembles a human heart.

(63,203 posts)Can't find the original quote, and it's worded better than this:
Nixon was cruel but not inept.
Trump is inept and cruel.
There is, ultimately, no getting past the nightmares inflicted by the Nixon and Bush administrations, but Trump is an uprecedented horror with no end clearly in sight.

People sold off Obama too quickly and are holding on to Trump too long.

Delilia is smart & proud to be an active #Resister. I always enjoy her tweets & opinions.
It is awesome to see her tweet blow up and go viral like this. It's gotten 40k retweets in the past four hours. Go Delilia!
She's totally right, Trump is a fat, fucking liar.

(26,259 posts)One particularly vile trump* supporter is being pounded but he is persistent with all of the usual trump* talking points. You see, we MISINTERPRETED what trump* said. He CLARIFIED what he meant.

(26,259 posts)He told me that trump never made fun of Serge Kovaleski. He was making fun of Ted Cruz!! Ok.......... I used a bag of hammers to counter that nonsense.
He eventually at least attempted to sound reasonable, but he's so well entrenched in that trump* mentality, it's a waste of time trying to reach him. He seems to have run out of steam, now.

(3,855 posts)We aren't supposed to believe our lying eyes & ears. Rather we should believe the spin and "clarification" that you are willing to provide? Ok, sure.

(2,201 posts)I suspect most of us thought that could never happen. I confess I never thought that.
Some scary food for thought........things can actually get worse. As crazy as it sounds now, it's possible that in 4 years, or 8 years, or 12 years...we'll have a President that's so bad, that we'll look back fondly on Trump. I know it's an ugly thing, but it's sure as hell possible.
BainsBane
(53,031 posts)Is that the next Republican might be even worse, since that has been the trajectory thus far.
I remember when I thought Reagan was awful.

(65,334 posts)intelligent. That is a truly scary possibility!

(53,031 posts)The only thing that spares us in terms of legislation and policy is his incompetence. On the other hand, his emotional instability is a threat to national security. Even John Kelly, Mattis, and Tillerson are terrified of what hell do.

(562 posts)By trying to pack the federal courts, the third branch. They'll try getting rid of moderates in congress. They would love a dictatorship. You don't need a competent dictator, just a good salesman.

(53,031 posts)But he is not a sociopath or a narcissist. Im pretty sure he voted for Clinton, based on her description of what he said at the inauguration.
Bush was a terribly incompetent president, but he was capable of compassion. Trump is barely human.

Totally without ethics, morals, kindness, consideration. A hollow, empty, bloated orange shell of a human. An old man, who NEVER grew up, never matured.
