Hear me out:

Dumbass said the generals told him that Obama didn't call the families of service members killed in action.

Trump has flaunted every convention of the presidency.

If any staffer told him he must call the family members because it is expected of him, he would refuse.

He doesn't care about anyone but himself, so why would he make an effort to console some family he doesn't even know? He would find it distasteful and would do everything possible to avoid it.

The generals and other staff have to manipulate him to get him to do anything except play golf.

The generals, being career military men, would of course be appalled by his lack of interest in contacting the family members. They would also recognize how truly horrible this looks for Trump.

So I believe it is entirely possible that they lied to him to coerce him into making the phone calls. "Obama was such a bad guy that he wouldn't call them. You're so much better than him. You will be a hero if you do this."

I think this tiny bit of his outrageous stunt yesterday might be true.

I'm no expert but having been raised in the Air Force I saw how unwavering certain ideas are, and respect for the chain of command, even if not for the person, is unwavering. That claim utterly disrespects the office of the president and I can't see them doing it. Something else, maybe.
