NPR found some of the charities the golf club had claimed donations to had never received anything.

NPR was able to account for about $800,000 in donations, but almost all of that was "in kind" -- rounds of golf and so on (which you can safely assume were overvalued by the club). They did find a few cash donations, low five figures.
