NPR says Trump lied about predecessors' condolence calls.

Trump Defends False Claim That His Predecessors Didn't Call Families Of Fallen Soldiers

NPR reports that Trump says it was OK for him not to call because (allegedly) other presidents didn't either. He gave Obama and Kelly's son as an example. Assuming he did not call it is quite likely he gave his condolences in person. Aside from this, would this excuse Trump from not calling and playing golf instead? And if it was remotely possible, Trump is not bound to do anything because previous presidents did something in a particular way. He has his own administration and is the ultimate responsibility for what communications do or do not leave the oval office. Trump appears to be using a fine distinction on whether a telephone was used or not.

Trump lies about everything, why would he act any different just because it involves a fallen soldier?
