I admit, I'm not well versed in my Yiddish, but the basic translation is that a Schlemiel is an inept, clumsy person. A Schlimazel is a very unlucky person.
Our so-called president is the schlemiel. We're all the schlimazels.

Shirley. I never knew that the Schlimazel was the unfortunate recipient of the Schlemiel's stupidity or carelessness. I always thought that a Schlemiel was the same as a Schmuck.

I believe it was the first time I'd ever heard the word "schlemiel," or maybe it was the first time it registered. I took the trouble to look it up. Good word!
