Sources: Kelly didn't know Trump would publicize that Obama didn't call when his son died

By Dan Merica, Jeff Zeleny and Kevin Liptak, CNN
Updated 6:22 PM EDT, Wed October 18, 2017

CNN) Chief of Staff John Kelly told President Donald Trump that President Barack Obama never called him after his son's death prior to Trump raising the issue in a Tuesday radio interview, multiple White House officials told CNN. But, according to these sources, Kelly never thought the President would use that information publicly.

Kelly and much of the White House were caught off-guard by Trump's comments, one official said, struck by how the President took a story Kelly has tried to keep private -- the death of his son -- and used it to defend his handling of four soldiers killed in Niger.

Trump, in defense of his own previous claim that Obama didn't call the loved ones of fallen soldiers, floated the idea Tuesday that reporters ask Kelly, a retired general, whether Obama called him after his son died in Afghanistan.

"As far as other presidents, I don't know, you could ask Gen. Kelly, did he get a call from Obama? I don't know what Obama's policy was," Trump said during a Fox News radio interview.

2. I saw it from the beginning as Trump putting Kelly in a corner

to both project his authority and to test Kelly's loyalty. Kelly has been getting too much spotlight for Trump's taste.

in some fashion to extend his condolences. If true, that would be so unlike him. I suspect there's more to this.
Leave it to 'asshole-in-chief' to fuck everything up, as usual.

after his son's death.

Makes you wonder about Kelly's integrity?

Why, if true, did he join into trump's lying narrative about Obama and other presidents not contacting families of those killed in action.

Here's from the article:
"Gen. John Kelly and his wife attended a breakfast for Gold Star families hosted by former President Barack Obama despite President Trump's claim that his predecessor did not reach out to the Kelly family.

A source close to the situation told AP the Kellys sat at a table with former first lady Michelle Obama at the breakfast, which took place just six months after their son had died.

AP also obtained a White House visitor log that confirms the Kelly family attended this event."

The 'sadist-in-Chief' truly has no decency. What a sick, demented fuck.

6. Really, Mr. Kelly? Really? You wanted to keep your son's death private...

...as is your right and prerogative, BUT "...is disgusted by the way this has been politicized..."

REALLY?!? You tell Donald fucking tRump* that you didn't get a call from President Obama when your son died, and "...according to these sources, Kelly never thought the President would use that information publicly."

Again: REALLY?!?

"Kelly and much of the White House were caught off-guard by Trump's comments, one official said, struck by how the President took a story Kelly has tried to keep private -- the death of his son -- and used it to defend his handling of four soldiers killed in Niger.

With all due respect, Sir... This is tRump*, the king of politicizing sensitive and/or inaccurate information for his own benefit.

So in his work life he has only encountered folks who don't blab about sensitive information. This is probably another wake up call for him.
