I have known for some time that Animals have deep feelings just like us. But it seems to be dogma that this isn't true. Apparently the dogma is that if animals appear to have feelings it is "superficial". I rejected it the first time I heard it and I reject it even more confidently now that both me and her are 59 years old.

It even prevades scientific thought which is the most shameful. Scientists should know better than to start their research questions with assumptions that they have no basis for making.

patted the back of his head, I just lost it. She loves him so!

After her reaction, I would have trouble leaving her until she finally passed. I'd probably put a cot in the room.
RIP, dear one.

Someone loves her for who she is and she is able to love them back. Added thought she does need a religious icon or philosophy as an excuse for her love.

Yet we strut around like we own the place.

It's one of the reasons I don't understand the SETI crowd.

They are looking for intelligent life in outer space but they seem to be overlooking the non-human intelligent life here.

If we can't talk to a chimpanzee or an elephant or an orca, how the hell are are we going to talk to space aliens?

To see the visible love bonds between species shows that we are not
the only sentient life on this planet.

I have been reading about dolphins and whales, had the same thoughts you are expressing.

Wonderful she was visited by a caring soul, though sad too for living a life confined from ever knowing freedom.

Was she a rescue? Born in captivity?
