Tom Steyer, the liberal billionaire activist considering a run for U.S. Senate in California, is spending at least $10 million on national TV ads demanding that Congress take a stand on impeaching President Donald Trump.
Steyer, one of the nations most prolific Democratic donors, directs viewers of the television and digital ads to a website where they can sign onto the initiative.
In the ad, Steyer charges that Trump has brought the United States to the brink of nuclear war, obstructed justice at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, taken money from foreign governments and threatened to shut down news organizations that report the truth in direct violation of the Constitution.
If that isnt a case for impeaching and removing a dangerous president, then what has our government become? Steyer asks. A Republican Congress once impeached a president for far less. Yet today, people in Congress and his own administration know this president is a clear and president danger who is mentally unstable and armed with nuclear weapons and they do nothing.
Steyer has sparred with Trump before, including running Spanish-language TV ads featuring video footage of the then-candidate calling Mexican immigrants rapists and promising deportation for those in the country illegally. During the Republican National Convention, Steyer aired TV ads with Trump speaking ill of women and promoting his border wall, urging people to register and vote.
Last year, at a campaign stop in Florida, Trump called Steyer a radical activist and contended that he was spending tens of millions to elect Democratic rival Hillary Clinton because she wants to shut down energy production all across the United States, leading to higher energy bills.
Stayers new ads come after he wrote to Congress, all 50 governors and more than 2,000 mayors across the country urging them to back impeachment.

Liberal's invest in politics emotionally; conservatives invest strategically

(20,144 posts)There is NO WAY Trump will be impeached with the current Congress. I would rather flip Congress in 2018 and then beat his ass soundly in 2020. I do not want Pence or Paul Ryan in the White House!

(2,050 posts)That every sane person is speaking out now about his unfitness for the job, his racism, his low IQ, his hate for women, his grifting, his nepotism, his constant lies, his mental illness.
Remember a few months back when it was only us who talked about this?, those days are finally over.
And I'm so fucking happy.
Keep it up!.

(9,664 posts)Yes the Dotard is evil. But let's learn just what replaces him. Personally I believe it could be worse.
Worse in regards to being less transparent. We will relax. We will become mentally at peace. We will believe we won.
Pence with the Dominionism beliefs he believes in will put us into the meat of the "Handsmaids Tale".

This will lead to Christian Sharia Law.

(1,770 posts)that merely impeaching the man, does not necessarily mean he'll be removed from office.
Just sayin'.
I want an environment where he's removed, and put on trial and hopefully convicted and punished.

(9,760 posts)We need wealthy Dems to fund all all ought battle against the RW media, which is responsible for the Trump presidency. If not for the lies they pushed making Obama and then Hillary out to be basically satanic, Trump would not have seemed a logical choice to anyone. But by comparison to the horrible characters they and other Dems have been made out to be, Trump's actual awfulness can be seen as insignificant.
We can't get them to stop watching Fox & the others. I think we need some old fashioned campaign--billboards, handbills, skywriting, whatever in addition to social media ad buys--to get the facts out to the public. People who know the truth will demand the removal of Trump and almost every other Republican.
Otherwise, we are forever fucked.
