The Founding Fathers didn't want the country to have a militaristic focus. They rightly believed that civilian leadership would prevent foreign entanglements. While the U.S. has certainly been embroiled in overseas conflicts, I expect things would have been worse if the Pentagon had been in charge of our foreign policy. I believe they are honorable public servants but when you're a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

In fact, I've found the criticism of past (and present) presidents who hadn't served in the armed services to be unpatriotic. The president-- and other government officials-- do not need to have served to be our leaders. The Constitution makes that fact clear.

SHRED is right: "All this military worship by the media is paying off for these fascists."
