Hearts Breaking

Last edited Sat Oct 21, 2017, 08:07 PM - Edit history (1)

Sargent La David Johnsons daughter, her eyes huge as she holds the folded flag in honor of her father who she will never hold again. The photo, the grief ...it is in all their eyes. They are so young. All of them so young.

A Gold Star family member, a general, insulted and belittle this family and called them liars as did the president of the United States. He was buried today while family and friends mourned. The president? What did he do today? He tweeted insults and then went to play golf. May he and Kelly roast in hell. They disrespected a service member, his family and this country AND OUR FLAG. There are no words for the disrespect of service men and women and their families. Their response? Inhumane at best. I have never been so ashamed of this country for which it now stands under the trump and GOP.

May you rest in peace, La David Johnson. Your family sir? Words fail me. It will be a long hard road for them. I hope they know many of us stand with them.

Good night Sergent,

JFK was honored. The president and General Kelly dishonored a mans service to this country. Was it because he was black? Or was it because they don't give one shit about the men and women that served. Pretty sure they really don't give a shit. Look how McCain is treated and that guy is white. president made it clear he only honors service men that are not captured and live.

Fuck trump and fuck Kelly. Their disrespect is clear.

Care to take a knee with us and stand for the treatment of Sargent Johnson and his family? He was disrespected by the president. He was disrespected by a gold star general. He was treated like dirt. I see little from said progressives, though I appreciated that you weighed in...yet you did not comment on how he was treated only that an investigation should happen. La David is dead. His young family mourns. See...it seems like it is just about identity politics and not the real issue of social justice. Once again social justice is just not that important. It is clear all over this board.

Three white men were dead yet brought home from the field. It took 48 hours to find him. . Johnson, a black man was found a mile away from the field. there are a lot of questions, I agree.

Take the knee and know what it means and then pass it along to the true progressives. No amount of money would have changed La David's death. He served his country without reservation...his country betrayed him, his family and his service. If he had been white it would have been a whole different story. That is a fact.

There was no excuse for the difference in how fast his body was recovered versus how fast the other bodies were recovered.

The way Trump treated his family was an abomination.

And both were grounded in white supremacism.

My initial comments in this thread were not meant to be the last thing I said on the subject, and at this point I don't know what it was in those words that read as dismissive to you.

you mention are about identity only...identity to a minor wing of the Democratic Party of which their identity is top priority in trying to wrest the Party away from true progressives and liberals which NEVER will happen and I mean never. They are very vocal, but not much else. I remember how shitty they were during the Convention allowing the repthugliKKKans another weakness to exploit, which was done......they are not going to address the fact that, my theory only, that Sgt. Johnson was probably grievously wounded and woke up, after being abandoned by his other 'elites' and 'blackwater' recovery people and wandered till he died....he was 1 MILE from point of ambush/firefight when his body was found? Something is very, very rotten here. I am so ashamed of our military now with even a goddam ex-general lying about and besmirching the character of Johnson's widow and rep. Wilson to cover for a shit faced potus who has never fired a shot in anger. Oh he'd go out on 5th Ave and kill some unarmed, probably AA innocent and his base would cheer....

Phony so-called "Christians" wave their bibles while the teachings of their so-called Lord go ignored.

We have been cursed with uncaring, hypocritical "leaders" who disdain us as people and shame us as a nation.

We are being "led" by Putin without the brains. No wonder so many take this is as concrete evidence that the original Putin, the one WITH the brains, is behind our national moral deterioration.

Families such as this brave family portrayed here bear the full burden of tragedy. They get a flag and some publicity, but they will have to bear this burden for many decades to come. The attention will fade, and the task of keeping on in the emptiness will become a dull daily uphill battle. I only hope it will not be a lonely one. During that time, long after Donald Trump's clogged arteries will have worked their inevitable effect, Ivanka and Jared Kushner will still jet around in private planes, live in mansions, and be thankful for the generous fiscal legacy of their felonious parents. They will have long forgotten who the Johnsons were (if they haven't already). The Johnsons don't get to forget who THEY were. They don't get that luxury.
