I've had RW people, who have been in the military, throw their "served" bullshit at me as a weapon.

"Well I've served, what about you!?".

Right? Human beings need to begin realizing that starting wars and killing each other is fucking absurd, primitive and needs to end, not be glorified! This jingoistic mentality of the idiots in the White House is worrisome.

It was something to do, I'm sure everyone has to live their life their own way.

Guess why his boys went in, daddy persuaded them. Which can be a family thing, I did the opposite with my boys. Cause America and live your life.

as long as they openly opposed the war and didn't think any one should be over there.

The ones I have trouble with are the ones like Trump & Cheney who to this day claim they supported the Vietnam War - as long as someone else was doing the fighting.

There are plenty of occupations besides warrior that serve. Jobs that we need for our country to grow and thrive. Doctors, nurses and teachers. Construction workers. Hell, when you get right down to it, the people who pick up our garbage and then sort and dispose of it serve ALL of us with a service we need to maintain our health and well being. Any job that helps the nation grow and thrive serves the nation and its people.

So what does he mean when he says ”serve”? Please explain, Kelly. Some of us served and just because we didn’t carry a rifle does not diminish our work and its value. I don’t want your pity.

Storm water/Flood Control.
We saved homes.

I guess that doesn’t count according to Kelly.

1/2 the population wasn't allowed to serve. So Kelly is saying he pities women.

Some were run-of-the-mill cowards and bullies who needed to talk their own choice up to feel better about themselves. They were caricatures of themselves. Cowards because they are bullies.

Some were truly disturbing people - and I think Kelly fits into this category - you walk away from them knowing that life with them has to be a balance act of walking on eggs and forever testing the waters. There's something just not right about them.

I've got nothing against draft-dodgers who flee before going against their conscience. I do have problems with people like Trump - who more or less buy their way out of service they claim to respect.
