2. Fuck the NRA!

They crossed the line from being the gun lobby into being a full blown hate group, and they might be the biggest terrorist group in America. We give them way too much power. It's time to take that power back.

4. This incident exposed a lot about the nature of the NRA

The NRA initially came out in favor of restrictions on bump stocks. Their base rebelled... Refusing to consider even that tiny step. The NRA quickly walked it back and redefined their request to be the narrowest, most toothless approach of requesting a revised ATF ruling. Their membership proved to be more extreme than their leadership.

The NRA is only powerful because of the huge mass of fanatical gun owners that back and drive them. As I said before, if the NRA vanished tomorrow there would be a new huge gun group with the same aims within a month.

8. There used to be talk that until a member of Congress was shot, there will be no reform

Well, that's happened twice now and nothing has come of it. Mass shootings have also lost their shock value.

Gun control seems to be impossible to attain so maybe the emphasis ought to be on safety and training.

9. The only thing the NRA dreads is a quick succession of events like Las Vegas

Obviously nobody wants that. But only that scenario would force the issue into outrage and priority for an extended period. Otherwise the right wing knows all they have to do is fade a few weeks and attention shifts.
