Trump-backing Amazon worker counting on GOP tax cuts to help him buy 'food and stuff'

Trump-backing Amazon worker counting on GOP tax cuts to help him 'buy food and stuff'
Travis Gettys 23 OCT 2017 AT 09:30 ET

A Pennsylvania Trump voter who gained notoriety for accidentally shooting himself at a Confederate rally said he’s counting on Republican tax cuts to help him afford basic necessities.

The 23-year-old Marine Corps veteran, who volunteered for the Obama campaign five years ago, is especially hopeful that GOP tax cuts will leave him with more of his $21,000 yearly salary.

“All that money I would get back every check which would help me pay my bills, my truck payment, buy food and stuff, take care of my dog, my girlfriend, my apartment — everything,” Hornberger said. “So it’s a big deal. I hope they get it done.”

The self-described patriot and volunteer firefighter’s income would place him in the lowest quintile, which could put him in line to receive a $100 tax cut, according to an analysis by FactCheck.org.

if he could do all that with an extra $100 a year ($1.90 a week), what he could do with all the money he could save by not buying guns and shooting himself at KKK rallies.

One had three practice grenades go off in his hand (apparently counting was not his strong suit). Another passed marksmanship with help from others - once they had scored the minimum, they placed shots on his target as he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

By definition, half of the people have IQs less than 100. There are no low IQ detention centers (some would argue that red states qualify), so half the people you see each day are less than average.

Amazon could bump your pay by $0.25 an hour, and you'd have far more than $100 extra at the end of the year. But why should Amazon pay you any more, when you're so willing to work for peanuts now? If only you had someone to help negotiate your salary and benefits, someone with a little more smarts than you.

I do taxes for a living in the winter months while i wait for work to pick back up in my year round work. Someone making 21K a year w/ no kids, assuming he's claiming himself, would receive a standard deduction and exemption of approx $10,000. So his taxable income would be $11,000 placing him in the 10% bracket. so he's only paying $1,100 a year in fed taxes. unless they pretty much do away with the lowest bracket, or double the standard deduction as has been floated, he wont get that much of a break. At best he's gonna get about $1000/year which is nothing to sneeze at. But I think some of these people are thinking Trump is gonna make magic pixy dust money appear and its not.

as it stands now, he will be lucky if he gets an extra $100 a year. It is basically a rob Peter to pay Paul scheme.

http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-tax-plan-doubled-standard-deduction-2017-9

Here's the important fine print: "To simplify the tax rules, the additional standard deduction and the personal exemptions for taxpayer and spouse are consolidated into this larger standard deduction."

Here's how that math works. Let's say you are single with no dependents, and you have a moderate income. Currently, you get to take the standard deduction ($6,350) and one personal exemption ($4,050). If you are 65 or older, you also get to take an additional standard deduction ($1,250). That adds up to $10,400, or $11,650 if you're over 65.

The Republican plan would replace all these provisions with a single deduction of $12,000 ($24,000 for married couples.) That's a 15% increase — except for seniors, who get a 3% increase.

And then your first dollar of taxable income would be subjected to a 12% tax rate, instead of the current 10%. But don't worry — the framework says "additional tax relief," as yet unspecified, will emerge for you during the committee process.

The deplorables and other low information voters think they will be getting that $4K or close to it when in fact they will receive merely pennies or may even pay more.

The wealthy and their Republican puppets continue to engage in class warfare much to the delight and ignorance of these idiots.

Give him a raise to $22K/year and let him put his math and economic skills to use teaching the nation's youth.

This is what the GOP wants, a nation of easily exploitable uneducated citizens.

has been underfunded and diminished for decades. A pliable, gullible, under-educated electorate is desired by the 1% and the Corporate/Congressional powers that pull all the strings. If citizens' education is minimal and they've never taken a basic "Civics" course or read the Constitution they don't even know when their rights are being eroded and taken away. And now Trump has given us Madame DeVos to help kill off an already wounded Education Department in the U.S.A.
