So, "very respectful" is telling a widow the same thing told to a Marine General?

Kelly confirmed that he told tRump how his best friend broke the news of his son's death to him. Then the Dotard turned around, against Kelly's recommendation, and used the same "that's what he signed up for" line on a call to the pregnant widow of a young soldier.

1) The kind of insight and demeanor that works between old friends and fellow warriors is usually not appropriate for someone you've never met.

2) Understanding the risks/sacrifices taken by our military and their families is hard enough for those closest to them. If you haven't been there, you better be very careful and compassionate.

3) No matter how good your intentions, if you upset any grieving person it is your fault. You should apologize immediately and do everything possible to make things right. There is a reason the people assigned to bring such news to military families are so well trained, they deserve nothing less than the kindest treatment possible.

like
"that's what he signed up for" and we must accept it
"that's what he signed up for" he was a very brave man
"that's what he signed up for" but you didn't sign up, so it hurts.

would know what to say (or google it!) but the 45 is not this person. So Kelly coached him in such a way to help him try and understand what the families would be going through. The idiot only hears and memorizes snippets of information and this phrase was the one he chose to utter without meaning or sensitivity. In HIS mind, he was consoling her. (Like when he sent warm condolences to the Vegas shooting victims' families). He has never had to deal with anything on a personal, human level. He gets others to do it for him. And he's so stupid he can't memorize the names of the four fallen.
