The right wing media has no greater achievement than persuading the mainstream media that they can only report what people say — that the media can’t report facts.

That’s bull crap and it harms America. Do your job, Wolf. Report facts based on evidence. Call a lie a lie.

I'm not giving Blitzer a pass, but in this instance he was calling a senator out for not having moral courage.

It is Blitzer's job, but it's also his job to clarify what the Administration says and to point out (as here) when someone is passing the buck by abdicating responsibility to call a club a club.

say "You shouldn't call the President a liar!" That's how it works for these guys. Just keep kickin' the can down that dusty, rutted road until we all go up in a nuclear mushroom cloud.

It would be more than a full time job to call out the lies coming from the top. This is what the media should be doing, but as long as I've been on this earth they rarely do it. Especially ass wipes like blitzer.

"criticizing" instead of challenging a lie: "I don't like this, I don't like that".

To them, there is no truth. It's ALL lies. All to hide the real agenda which is to service their rich donors.

....."criticism" or "things I don't like" with demanding that someone not lie.

Blitzer should have called him on that.

The other thing Risch is inadvertently admitting, is that the President and fellow Senators lie "all day long".

Get braver Mr. Blitzer!

Wolf frames the question as something he knows is a lie and shouldn't the Senator speak out about it and the Senator re-frames it into a straw man question about a disagreement then Wolf was not quick enough on his feet to come back with "I'm not talking about disagreements, I'm talking about a proven lie so answer the question".

Finally, the media is doing a decent job of pointing out the lies but they don't stick because the wrong people are asking the questions. Wrong because they are not smart enough to think on their feet and call out people like this Senator. Blitzer got his lunch eaten in this exchange because he lacks the smarts required for the job.
