The Trappers collected scalps of their victims in lieu of hands or ears. The scalps were exchanged at the nearest trading station in exchange for money or supplies and provisions...
Native American tribes, having no idea why their brothers and sisters were left un-buried with their heads mutilated, began to copy the practice when they started to kill settlers for revenge...
