and of course about Putin himself. What aired tonight is part 1, which ends at about 2011. So the U.S. 2016 election shenanigans is left to part 2.

Back to part 1 - why he especially hates Hillary Clinton. One specific reason was that she organized the coalition that went after Libya and Muammar Gaddafi -- who was found in a sewer pipe, dragged out bloody and beaten to death -- all of this on film. And when she heard about it, she laughed and very gleefully said, "We came, we saw, he died" (that's on You Tube -- she had been having a TV interview when an aide broke in to tell her the news about Gaddafi). Gaddafi had been a Russian ally. And as always Putin saw himself in overthrown dictators who were overthrown in part with U.S. force or help, fearing it might be his fate some day. Putin watched the Gaddafi death tape over and over again and talked about it repeatedly for a long while.

I forgot the other reason specific to Hillary Clinton. But anyway that's part of the animus that made him very interested in the election's outcome.

Also his strongly negative view of the U.S. and of all the U.S. presidents he dealt with (Bill C, G W Bush, Obama) and the difficult relations with all of them.

I'm not familiar with PBS, but there are a (helluva) lot of interesting programs on their site including The Vietnam War which was shown recently.
