In Flake's case, his bravery is born of a very difficult primary, a primary in which he is unlikely to prevail. What he did is more accurately called face saving.

Corker may be able to come out ahead of MarshaMarshaMarsha Blackburn. But maybe not. The real deep back story is that he is planning/hoping/thinking about mounting a primary challenge to Don Fuhrer.

While both are saying things we like hearing, neither are our friends and neither is a whole lot more than farts in a windstorm.
