Report: Rebekah Mercer Feared 'Legal Liabilities' of Accessing Hillary Emails
Top Republican donor Rebekah Mercer had a conversation in June 2016 during which she considered trying to findand releasethen-candidate Hillary Clintons 33,000 deleted emails, but ultimately decided it would be a terrible idea and create major legal liabilities, The Wall Street Journal reports. The revelation about Mercer comes just one day after a bombshell Daily Beast report unveiled that the head of Cambridge Analytica, Alexander Nix, had asked WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to help find Clintons emails. Mercers alleged conversation, according to the Journal, occurred before WikiLeaks even began publishing its own trove of Clinton-related emails in July 2016. The Mercers also had not yet officially begun supporting President Trumps campaign.
