GOP Tax Bill Shrouded In Secrecy

October 28, 2017 at 9:38 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

“Rank-and-file House Republicans are increasingly alarmed by the secrecy shrouding the massive tax bill their party leaders plan to ram through Congress next month,” Politico reports.

“Just days ahead of the legislation’s release, GOP members of the House Ways and Means Committee are still in the dark on numerous details being ironed out by the powerful tax-writing committee’s chairman, Kevin Brady (R-TX), and his staff. And they’re blaming the panel’s top-down approach for the uncertainty.”

The process that Republicans use in Congress in attempts to advance huge pieces of legislation is infinity more occluded than anything Democrats ever attempted when they were being condemned for any lack of transparency, or for moving on bills that most members could insufficiently review.

Republican hypocrisy is mind blowing in how bold and predictable it always is.

mass media want their tax cuts too. So the highly irregular way the Senate is abusing openness will barely be mentioned.
