NEW DETAILS: Sgt. La David Johnson died going BACK into the kill zone to save comrades

Last edited Sun Oct 29, 2017, 05:47 PM - Edit history (1)

REVEALED - Full story of deadly Niger ambush: Hero Green Beret Sgt. La David Johnson died going BACK into the kill zone to save comrades... as survivors fought for their lives for TWO HOURS until French fighter jets reached them

Sgt. La David Johnson was in an armed pick-up truck when the ambush started
His vehicle was in front of the Land Cruiser carrying Sgt. Bryan C. Black, Staff Sgt. Jeremiah W. Johnson, Sgt. La David Johnson and Staff Sgt. Dustin M. Wright
Johnson and his vehicle escaped the fire of 50 ISIS militants but then went back
They were trying to save the other four US men when they were all struck
Sgt. La.'s body was eventually given back to Nigerien troops by a village elder
That same village elder is suspected of stalling the troops before the ambush
The October 3 attack in Tongo Tongo, Niger, has been shrouded in secrecy
Sgt. Johnson's widow revealed this week that she still did not know how he died
The new details were revealed on Friday by an unnamed US official
Questions remain over why the lightly armed unit of just 42 soldiers was sent on a dangerous mission to capture an ISIS target with so few men and weapons
The official revealed the men were meant to have back-up but it could not go with them at the last minute
Instead of being called back to base, they were told to proceed with the mission

by the right wing media as was the false claim that his widow was lying when she claimed Trump didn't know her husband's name and that Trump was callous when speaking to her on the phone.

I don't see what is hard to understand about the idea that RW media heavily pushes nasty stories about anyone who even mildly criticizes Trump. Thus Sgt. Johnson's widow was widely vilified as a liar by the RW media after she corroborated Rep. Wilson's version of the phone call.

The poster I "interpreted" for you merely doubts that this positive news about her husband's heroics will get anywhere near the same exposure in the RW media as was given to the claim that his wife was lying about what Trump said in the phone call and how callously he said it.

But the mission sounds like a total pooch-screw. Definitely FUBAR sending those people in with NO backup.

The dick responsible for that won't ever be held accountable though.

Gawd, this looks almost exactly like the fuck-up in Yemen that killed a US Navy SEAL back in late January.

Still so many questions to be answered as to why this mission was so poorly planned and the troops left with so little protection. It's a complete failure coming from the top.

Can the CinC be court martialed for dereliction of duty?

Trump says he knows more then the generals.

All that spare time playing golf when he could have been planning missions and not killing soldiers by assigning less qualified underlings to the task of mission planning.

Our military requested more resources for Niger mission(s) but the Trump administration refused them.

If these details are true, he should be awarded a medal. Is it too much to hope that Dolt 45 will have to present a medal to his family?

(of course, I don't wish to inflict this asshole on the family, but force the asshole to honor Johnson.)

24. My First Thought
Sun Oct 29, 2017, 01:32 PM
Oct 2017

At first I too wanted Trump to have to give Johnson's widow a medal just to be able to stick it to Trump. However, after some thought I realized Trump would not have a problem insulting this family on live TV. I can imagine him taking part of the award ceremony to attack this family and then talk about how horrible the family and the media have treated.

Now, the only bad thing about Johnson being awarded any medal by Trump is that the family would either have to get the medal from Trump, or have Mike Pence give them the medal in order to prevent Trump from insulting the family. Trump refusing to present the family with the medal would also be an insult to the family. There is no real way this family wins with Trump. I, like you, do not want this family to have any further dealings with Trump.

I also agree with you, that the family DOES NOT need anymore interaction with the guy in the white house. Maybe, something could be worked out/delayed pending an upstanding guy/gal in the White House.

When your family is grieving, you don't/they don't want to interact with a lot of people, other than relatives. Definitely, not in something like the recent BS.

He was in the lead vehicle, going back. Came in through the Daily Mail. Sounds like some others (principals) involved in the extraction have talked with their Intelligence Officers and . . . .

Thanks to our allies in the Niger episode.

This seems like Medal of Honor action. After the surviving the attack, he went back into the battle to attempt to save his follow soldiers. That seems like behavior that leads to a person being awarded the Medal of Honor.
