Flags I've temporarily added to my sig line.
For the next few weeks, I've added the flags of Catalunya and the International Brigades-the largest anti-fascist force in the Spanish Civil War-in protest of the antidemocratic actions of the Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy's "Popular Party" -successor party of Francisco Franco's Falangist Party-government towards the government and people of Catalunya.
I'm on the fence about Catalan independence, but there was no excuse for the PP to stoke the fires of Catalan separatism by repealing the autonomy measures passed by the previous Spanish government, and then to send in the Guardia Civil to steal voting boxes and intimidate people out of voting in a referendum, and THEN to remove the elected Catalan government by emergency decree and force new elections that will be rigged against the governing parties in Catalunya.
These actions are a sign that the PP was never truly a democratic party at all and has never fully broken with its Falangist/Fascist heritage.
Nothing could possibly justify using state violence to prevent people from voting or to remove the democratic government of any jurisdiction.
