That is the position we will be in if we repeatedly call for impeachment, only to have the effort shot down by the GOP Congress -- no matter how much right is on our side.
I think Nancy Pelosi is handling this correctly. We have one, best shot to get this right -- and that will be after Mueller has finished his investigation and named DT as a co-conspirator. That is what brought Nixon down and that is what will bring Trump down.
This is all assuming, of course, that Mueller is allowed to continue doing his job.
But if DT fires him . . . then we go to war.

(21,560 posts)the best thing Dems can do is just stay the hell out of Mueller's way.

(11,097 posts)Impeachment is neither a criminal case governed by the double jeopardy nor a civil or administrative case governed by res judicata. Nevertheless, the concept behind both rules is basic to the American sense of fairness and cannot be violated.
This is important and must either be done correctly or not at all.
As I have been arguing in another string, the order must be Ready - then - Aim - and only then - Fire. If the shot misses, there is little hope for a second.
I agree about DT firing Mueller. If Mueller is fired, we take to the streets, then go home and start calling Congress. The protests are being planned. Everyone needs to know in advance where the nearest protest is planned if Mueller is fired and be ready to show up.

(5,928 posts)Where you wrote, "That is what brought Nixon down and that is what will bring Mueller down" I'm sure you meant. "and that is what will bring Trump down".
I think everybody gets what was meant, but may as well fix it anyway.
