"average" in this context is absolutely meaningless.

Let's say America was a nation of 10 people. One guy is rich and gets a $1,000,000 tax cut. Everyone else gets a $1 tax cut.

The AVERAGE tax cut everyone got in that scenario was $100,000! WOW!! What are you gonna do with your $100k?!?

Or even worse, 1 person gets 1.1 million cut, a thousand get their taxes raised by 1,000. 'average' is still a cut for all 1001. Reality is a bit different.

obviously i'm oversimplifying because we already know many of us ordinary people will end up paying *more*.

But the necessary cuts to other government programs will probably cost me more than $3 in the long run.

Also this is one situation where perhaps the median might give better data.

5. How did they calculate that?

even given it's a small sum, how did they calculate that?

If I have 10 people and give one of them 10 bucks and the other 9 get nothing, the "average" received would be $1.

and Sheldon Adelson as well as Steve Wynn, receive millions in Negative Tax Refunds, while every Household with dependency on Social Security Income, will be able to not pay Federal Income Tax on the first 24k,but will lose their 15k in deductibles. And that will be replaced by a increase in personal Exemption of a few hundred dollars. So,all those people will have to pay 12-28% on every dollar over 26k. If that's the case, whoa nellie,we will see the largest Tax Increase ever on 47% of Americans.

Here is the kicker,if you are required to do a minimum withdrawal on your 401 k's,that money will drive your Federal Gross Taxable Income even that much higher. Get ready for a major economic down turn like we never seen in our life time.

12. Let's look at the word "average"
Thu Nov 2, 2017, 12:39 PM

This is so easy to manipulate.

The "average" usually refers to the "mean."

If I give a $400k break to the top 1%, and zero to everybody else, the "average" tax cut is $4,000 per person. But for 99% of the population it's still zero.

Now, if I give a $400k break to the top 1%, and take an extra $2800 from everybody else, the "average" tax cut is $1,200. And we get a big tax hike.

Now, an honest person might assume "average" refers to the median. But do you expect honesty from the RePutin Party?
