Maddow:They are pinning Jeff Sessions to the wall on repeated lies about Russia and probably Trump

During Thursday’s opening story with Rachel Maddow, the host played every video of former Alabama senator-turned Attorney General Jeff Sessions allegedly lying about contacts he had with Russians.

Snip.........

“In the plea agreement just unsealed involving Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, the government asserts and Papadopoulos affirms that it’s true that not only did he, as part of the Trump campaign, have contacts with the Russian government while he was working with the campaign, those conversations really were about the Russians interfering in the campaign, by collecting dirt on Hillary Clinton and obtaining thousands of e-mails,” Maddow said.

A Thursday story by The New York Times made the same point as Maddow, noting that the released plea agreement from Papadopoulos confirms that Trump and Sessions lied repeatedly and have been caught.

His replacement will be someone who is not required to recuse himself and who can fire Rosenstein and Mueller.

I personally think Sessions is a good man with minor memory problems, a person who deserves to keep his job. Until Mueller is finished.

And since taking the job, he really hasn't taken any controversial or offensive positions. The doom and gloom predicted on the left, and the "hanging judge" anticipated by the right, have both mostly been disappointed.

He's been more or less underwhelming to both sides. Rather than a scourge or a savior, he's mostly just done the job, in all of its boring splendor.

That said, I think firing Mueller would backfire on Trump, bigly.

He damn well knows he perjured himself. He's been hoping it would just melt away into the vast cesspool of republican shit that will never face justice because he and his republican cronies are in charge. Now despite his hope and wishes, his perjury is bubbling back up near the top of the moral cesspool the republicans have spawned.

Should have exposed frump during the campaign. Now he's another casualty of frump's graft, abetted by the gop.

He is supporting anti-gay court cases, Has stopped supporting civil rights cases, and has said they won't investigate corrupt PD's. He had a woman arrested and tried for a short laugh during his appointment hearings. The rot comes from the head down.

He is a cornerstone in the building that created institutional racism.

I would not call someone with well documented white supremacist views "a good man."

She hit Sessions' again tonight, including his blatant, proven lies under oath again tonight, and Chuck Schumer was on agreeing with other senators who are calling for Sessions to come back to "clarify" some issues. He used the word perjury, and said the rule of law is paramount in America. No one is above the law.

Yes.

the right thing for him to go, asap.

What he did was wrong and must fall on his ceremonial sword. Rosenstein will take over until the new AG is confirmed, and that's no gimme. It would be wrong for Democrats to ease off a rabid racist, JUST because it suits their agenda.

Apparently republicans don't include truth as on of their "republican family values." They really should. It's a good, American value. Hell, even their unread Bibles talk about the importance of truth. But the republicans will be DAMNED if they will pay attention.
