(2,120 posts)... while draft-dodging bone spur Donny, who was playing golf and screwing women while Bob Mueller was in Vietnam (even if you don't agree with that war as I do not you must respect his courage and commitment), who has been named in literally thousands of lawsuits, who is ranked the worst liar in politics by multiple independent fact-checking sites, who has cheated on his wives, plowed through numerous marriages, ignored business commitments, abandoned pledges and promises like used toilet paper, and contradicted himself on numerous occasions...
is the one telling the truth?

that's what limbaugh has been saying and the other 300 pukes on 1500 radio stations are saying the same and after 30 years of them taking free pot shots at good americans doing good the dems/liberals/left continue to ignore republican hate radio with a passion.
we even let 88 major universities support 257 limbaugh stations!

(4,407 posts)Lots of people have disappointed us before. Most on here assume he has made it his specific mission to bring down the President. I don't know that to be true, he may be focused on other things. This guy undoubtedly has conservative in political leanings, which may still affect his approach. I will withhold judgment until we see more.

(26,619 posts)but the so called principled repubs confirmed DeVos, Sessions, Pruitt, Price, Perry, Carson, and even Tillerson and McMasters. Who have I left out, oh yeah Gorsuch, not to mention some of the other judges being confirmed.. No such thing as principle over party with this bunch. Of course, Mueller doesn't have to answer to the batshit base, but still a repub. But, you're right, we have no choice but to trust him.

My hats off to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. :
Rest assured that every cave, rabbit hole, bush, dumpster, garbage pit, will be thoroughly explored, looked into and examined until the truth is found. And the guilty are known...it will be up to our judicial system, representatives and law enforcement to decide who will do the perp walk...

(5,954 posts)And, do my eyes deceive me? Is Mueller a PFC? I thought he graduated from Princeton before going to Vietnam, and assumed he'd have been an officer. If he graduated from Princeton, and then served as a regular grunt by choice, that's amazingly impressive.
TomSlick
(11,097 posts)says he served as a Marine officer in Vietnam. I don't find a source of a commission. Might this be a pre-OCS photo?

(2,522 posts)Found this image on Pinterest with a much different - and very specific - provenance.
Vietnam, 1967 - 1968, 25th Infantry Division, 9th Regiment, 4th BN, C Company. Taken after an all night operation and sweep of a village on Easter Morning. Ed Episcopo. A $12 Kodak Instamatic cartridge camera was used for all photos. Photos were scanned and restored with Nikon's Capture NX2 software.

Also, although the photo quality is low, it also appears (could just be shadow) that this man has a single stripe, but Robert Mueller was an officer. What about the unit insignia on his shoulder? Can anyone identify it?
Sam McGee
(347 posts)The guy pictured in the photo identified as Mueller is wearing a single stripe on his sleeve, indicating he is an Army private. There may be a rocker under the stripe indicating a Private First Class. Mueller was a USMC platoon leader . . . a 2nd Lieutenant.
From Wikipedia:
Mueller was accepted for officer training in the United States Marine Corps in 1968, attending training at Parris Island, Officer Candidate School, Army Ranger School, and Army jump school.[18]
In July 1968, he was sent to South Vietnam where he served as a rifle platoon commander with Second Platoon, H Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division;[8][19] he eventually became aide-de-camp to 3rd Marine Division's commanding general.[18] In April 1969, he received an enemy gunshot wound in the thigh, recovered, and returned to lead his platoon until June 1969.[20] For his service in and during the Vietnam War, his military decorations and awards include: the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V", Purple Heart Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals with Combat "V", Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three 3⁄16" bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Parachutist Badge.[8][20]

(1,076 posts)I don't want to diminish this thread or anyone's time in RVN. The troops or marines (gentlemen) out on the sweeps or strong points have seen some BS. I've seen these gentlemen coming into the base camp. They've all had a haunted look.
sarge43
(28,941 posts)Apparently what the Corps didn't use were unit patches (top of left sleeve). So yeah, that photo is shaky. I'm sure Mueller did look and was that bad ass - basic requirement.
