Paddock, a millionaire who reportedly would gamble up to $1 million a night in casinos, was attracted to the president's politics because of the boost the stock market has enjoyed since Trump took office, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo told KLAS, a local CBS affiliate in Las Vegas, during a two-hour interview.
Paddock said "he was happy with Trump because the stock market was doing well," Lombardo said.
Stocks have indeed risen nearly every month since Trump took officesomething that has been achieved under no other U.S. president, Forbes reported. But the magazine also noted that the markets have actually seen better gains under five other presidents.
Lombardo said he didn't know offhand who Paddock was talking to when he was talking about Trump, adding that it's the "only thing that we have seen that references politics." Authorities do not believe it correlates to a motive in the shooting.

(64,995 posts)WTF is Forbes talking about. The continuing rise in the market is based upon the years of stability fomented by the Obama administration. Investors love extrinsic stability.
There is ZERO indication that the current trend would have occurred if the market had not already been on a multi-year upward trajectory.

(20,411 posts)The did not make any claims as to why or give credit to anyone. They also noted that more substantial gains were achieved under 5 other presidents. Not sure why that would upset anyone.
And I agree with your last sentence.

Does that mean since this guy supported Trump, Trump had anything to do with this guy's madness?
Obviously NO.
Doesn't matter who won, this guy was bent on murder. Period.

(13,081 posts)And will do most anything to keep them looking good. Of course, unlike most politicians in most places, theyre only third on the list. Cops are second and casinos are first. Always. I well remember watching Metro line up in their riot gear during the 92 riots and form a human wall between the historic Black neighborhood and the downtown casinos, and didnt do a damn thing to stop many of those blocks from being burned, looted, and terrorized.
For the record: while I firmly believe that Metro has bumbled their way through this entire thing from start to finish, starting with a shoddy response and still whitewashing, I fully support the joint decision of Metro and the FBI to find the hard drive with the video missing. It stops him from being a martyr, helps prevents copycats, and saves literally tens of thousands of people from being constantly traumatized the rest of their lives.

(15,543 posts)He sets a public example as the "republican family values" role model. Weak-willed people - as well as small children and grandchildren - hear what the republican Draft-Dodger-in-Chief says, and see what he does. He lies all the time; ergo lying is OK (if you're a republican). He cheats; erogo cheating is OK (if you're a republican).
He's often glinty-eyed, enraptured as he salivates on stage about mauling, executing or otherwise totally destroying people and groups, and he is energized by low-moral, mean-spirited vengeance; ergo for the weak-willed among us, all that evil shit is OK (if you're a republican).
Sick. Sick and sad.
