Trump seems to be under the influence of something...

Or, whatever illness he has is getting worse.

On TV right now. Start/stop speech, slight slurring. He's having trouble reading and places his emphasis on words that should not be emphasized.

But it's the brain adjustment, not lack of sleep, that is the issue.

Within minutes of arriving in Adelaide to stay with friends, my wife and I were taken to a high school production of Guys and Gals. We looked at each other and thought, thank God we can close our eyes in the darken audience. But, it turned out to be theater in the round, well lit and video taped. The video camera aimed in our direction. I tried to act awake and my wife crashed on my shoulder.

I've flown to and from China and didn't need a layover in Hawaii. And one leg of the flight was delayed in Tokyo so we got to Beijing in the middle of the night. Been to--ok.. I'll list them all if I can. just for fun.. oh my-- Shanghai, Qingdao, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Sanya, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guilin, Guiyang, Kunming, Lijiang, Dali, Xi'an,

Never been to Beijing-- just the old airport...

Go there if you can. It's been some years since I was there and I'm sure it's all changed, but still fascinating. I've been to Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guilin, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. I also was at the old airport, very warehouse-like. Flew from Guilin to Guangzhou in an old Russian Antonov prop plane. It was so humid outside that when they finally turned on the AC. Next, condensation started coming out of the vents, fogging up the plane's interior. Some of the Americans on the plane started freaking out because they were certain the plane was on fire. I'm sure that most of the Chinese passengers were snickering at the panic. I certainly was.

I went because digging a hole in the back yard never got me there and I was curious.

yeah, I have heard how beautiful Hangzhou is, friends have been there, and the culinary history is quite long.
I have an open invitation from a friend in the Shanghai Philharmonic ...

And ya know, I loved that old Beijing airport.. Do you remember the little tea place on the 2nd floor? Overlooking the main lobby?

I also was at the old Baiyun Guangzhou Airport several times. The one right in the middle of town. The first time I ever went to China I landed there-- 2001. What a madhouse! :&gt )
Never been to either city's new airports.

I usually now fly through Shanghai. or HK. Or Seoul, actually. Wonderful airport. (And city)
Problem with Shanghai is some connections you have to get your ass from Pudong to Hongqiao.

Oh Guilin noodles !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My trip was was a long time ago -- back in 1982, which was pretty soon after it opened to Western tourism. But, that's correct about the Guangzhou airport. I flew back to the U.S. from Hong Kong; taking off from the old Kai Tak was an experience that haunted my dreams for years.

I also remember crossing the border from China into Hong Kong. We had to get off one train and walk down the platform to get on the other train.

You're lucky to be able to go back regularly. I look at photos these days and barely recognize the place.

I did the opposite one time- 2002 maybe..getting from HK to "China" through Shenzhen. Is that where you mean? Must be...
Luohu Station?

I flew into HK, asked around how to get to Luohu station in Shenzhen. A friend was going to meet me there.
All this before smart phones. Or at least before I had one. Not even a flip phone. So I bought a phone card and called her.. told her I was in HK and was on the way.. :&gt )

So I took a bus from HKG to some train station somewhere.. Got on the right train. It stopped at the border. we changed trains for the 4 minute ride under the river to Luoho Station in Shenzhen. Customs,. etc... and found her..

What fun..

never landed at Kai Tak-- my loss.

yeah it has changed so much. Even Qingdao used to be a beautiful bright, 'small' seaside 'resort' city--easy traffic... Now it is smoggy traffic jam..

Can't recall the station name, but it likely was Luoho. We didn't go underground, but walked over a bridge. I'd read years before (can't remember where) about crossing the border and the walk. So it was pretty neat to do that myself.

That was a great trip.
