As we pray for the victims, let us recall Archbishop Desmond Tutu's words on the power of prayer:

When the missionaries came to Africa, they had the Bible, and we had the land. And they said "Let us pray." So we closed our eyes, and we prayed. And when we opened our eyes, we had the Bible, and they had the land.

That’s the new catch phrase people throw out when something good happens to them or they’re having an exceptionally good day, “I’m so blessed”. The response the comedian said was this, and I’m paraphrasing: “So you’re saying an all powerful God conveniently sat out the extermination of six million people during the Holocaust, but he saw fit to ‘bless’ you with a caramel machioto this morning? Fuck you”

Just wow.

“Their god allowed them to be gunned down.”

Seriously?
Enlighten us with your feelings on the Holocaust, please.

I was not raised in a religious home, but I was raised to have respect for others’ beliefs.

Smh. Very saddened by what I’m reading on this site lately.

This quote, often attributed to Jomo Kenyatta, was first written in a fiction play published by holocaust doubter Rolf Hochhuth, in his controversial The Deputy, a Christian tragedy (1964), Grove Press, p. 144. No reference to any historical or original source was given. Other citations are found in books written by critics of religion, such as Christos Tzanetakos's "The Life and Work of an Atheist Pioneer", iUniverse; and Jack Huberman's "Quotable Atheist: Ammunition for Nonbelievers, Political Junkies, Gadflies, and Those Generally Hell-Bound" (2008), 175. No references are given.
In Desmond Tutu: A Biography (2004) by Steven Gish, p. 101; is clarified Tutu used it as a joke which was not of him.

what happened today at a Texas church! Or last month at a concert, et all.

Horror movies seem too placid compared to reality today!

On D-Day, parachuting into Normandy.

And our cowardly politicians have done Jack and Shit to prevent the next one. Lots of prayers, though, and talk about “improving security” at... I guess everywhere?

No magazine size limits
No universal background checks
No registrations
No banning bump stocks

We are ten times as likely to be killed by a gun in the US than in the rest of the industrialized world, at best, and every month there’s another slaughter or murder or drive-by and we just shrug and say “Freedom.”

I am of the opinion that the missionaries have gained land the world over by selling salvation for land rights. They now run societies and governments.
