I think the United States is beyond help.

They cannot break free of the Putin's grip. The GOP is ensnared. There is a missing element in the control that Trump and therefore Putin has over Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan. The GOP with Putin's help control all branches of government and the Democratic Party does not even understand their enemies. The GOP = Putin.

Trump is the symptom, not the cause. I see the cause as greedy corporations and billionaires to engage in laissez-faire, unregulated capitalism with as few, if any, regulations to protect the enviroment, and the safety, health, and welfare of people. They don't give a damn about people. They are tax cheats if they think that they can get away with it. They will partner with any dictator, mafiosa, or criminal if it makes them money. The love of money is the root of all evil. Only is we can succeed in getting this dark money out of our electoral system can we regain our democracy. History tells us that when the monied interests get so overwhelmingly powerful, then the people resort to armed revolution and war as a remedy. And the revolutionary remedy can take a very nasty turn for the worse.

I already thought that years ago. To my mind we passed the tipping point when boy george had his first election stolen for him.
