When is ENOUGH going to be enough?

Until we get off our asses, get educated on the issues, be talking with our friends and neighbors, and VOTE, nothing is going to change in this country. The same people are going to remain in office; do the bidding of the NRA and other powerful lobbies, as we slowly watch the USA and all it stands for become a Oligarchical Dictatorship with Donald Trump as its head.

Remember what happened to Julius Caesar and eventually to Rome?

What say you?

I applaud your comparison of the US Empire to the Roman Empire.

Both were built upon the lives and resources of conquered peoples.

But the reason Rome fell is because it succumbed to the same thermodynamic processes of catabolic collapse that are currently threatening this country.

This empire is going the same direction as the Roman empire for almost exactly the same reasons that have much more to do with ecology and civilizational cycles than any particular political ideology.

Just like the Roman Empire, the US Empire will begin fragmenting and lives will be changed.

I predict that within our lifetime we will see the United States become disunited (states will succeed from the union). Many will throw blame around but really this is what happens to empires after they get too big to be supported by the resource base then let them grow initially.

Democracy and voting could not have saved Rome and it cannot save the United States. What it can do is vote for sane policies that encourage de-growth of the economy in every way imaginable.

But nobody likes those options so anybody that runs promising to shrink the economy will for sure fail to get elected.

Edit: The biggest problem I see is that the problems in the country are being blamed on different groups of people instead of on the actual culprit, our desire to continually grow when growth is unsustainable.

It will not be our greatness that will be our downfall, but the GREED that overcame all that was good.

The Founding Fathers have to be rolling in their graves right about now.
