General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDUers, can you help me with a list of good phrases for Dems to use re: Trump's Tax Scheme
Trump was good at distilling complex ideas into short sound bites that his morons could understand. They were all lies, of course, but it is a very important skill to have. Bernie was good at it, too. Joe Biden is good at it. Many of our politicians aren't. If we compile a good list, we can fax it to our side, who sometimes tend to talk over Joe Average's head.
I would love if you would add some soundbites for Dems to use to describe Trump's terrible tax cut. We need politicians who talk like Bernie! They need to use words with negative diction to describe the tax cuts. Pelosi actually tweeted something the other day that was good, but I can't remember what it was.
Here are a few; please add some more.
This tax cut is a scheme.
It is a fraud upon the middle class.
This is a get-richer Trump family tax cut.
Trump's pals at Mar-A-Lago will love this tax cut.
Trump's golfer pals will love this tax cut.
Trump charlatan tax cut for his pals.
Trump's carnival barker tax cut.
This is what we need!! Words that create a visceral negative reaction in listeners. Please add your own!!

Education assistance slashed
No more deduction for medical expenses
Adoption and parenting: The bill repeals the adoption tax credit, which allows families to offset up to $13,570 in taxes for every child adopted out of foster care.
Property and casualty losses
Electric cars and renewable energy
A host of petty nuisance cruelties: Beyond these provisions, the tax bill would take away modest deductions and exclusions that help ordinary people live their lives. Moving expenses, which are currently deductible if a worker is moving at least 50 miles to take a new job, would remain part of taxable income. Alimony currently can be deducted by the payer if its declared as income by the recipient; the bill would remove that choice, requiring instead that it be declared as income by the payer. Tax preparation costs, including accountants fees and the price of tax software, would no longer be deductible by taxpayers using the itemized deduction.

(32,595 posts)two old men were talking (loudly) about Obama and Eric Holderman??? Could not figure out what they were so angry about but both kept saying they needed to be in jail.
I moved closer to them and just stared. I assumed when they noticed I was watching they would just shut up. They did not. Instead the hateful ignorant old farts invited me into the conversation, thinking I would feel the same.
So I smiled and asked - Have your grandchildren been able to enroll in Russian language classes yet? They just looked at me.
Then I asked if they had any problem with it being mandatory? They just looked at me.
They were stumped. I walked away.

(48,954 posts)This is also about massive spending cuts. Food assistance, housing assistance, health care, likely future cuts to social security and medicare (because they WILL raid those funds - remember the lock box - this more than tears the lock off), roads/infrastructure, public safety, even free and reduced lunches at school and meals on wheels face possible massive cuts.
Or print copies of this article up and hand it out (or share the link) - and then invite them to google up Kansas, budget, school cuts and anything else from the article. Kansas did this - lived to regret it - and thinks it will take years and years to reverse the damage.
