I just finished reading about 100 pages, starting at page 34, of Carter Page's testimony before the House Intelligence Committee.
My first impression was about how obsessed he was with the "Steele dossier", which he called the "dodgy dossier" about a dozen times?
There was some degree of fear in some of his statements. He said he had been threatened with physical harm several times.
At times he seemed like he was unaware that he was perhaps being used by the Russian government? But he admitted to meeting with several well-known Russian officials? Was he naive or was he complicit?
I tend to think that things like this do not happen by accident or in a vacuum.
At times, his testimony was all over the place, like a child with ADD.
He wanted the Committee to know how much he admired Donald Trump...

(3,613 posts)On paper he is a genius, that started with nothing and pulled himself up by his own bootstraps.
In person, he is nuts, and has been for decades.
In 1998, Page joined the Eurasia Group, a strategy consulting firm, but left three months later. In 2017, Eurasia Group president Ian Bremmer recalled on his Twitter feed that Page's strong pro-Russian stance was "not a good fit" for the firm and that Page was its "most wackadoodle" alumnus.
I am going out on a limb and say that he is probably twice-unexceptional. Which means that he is very smart as well as mentally disabled. It is a new term that I have invented, and is the opposite of twice-exceptional.
Some Common characteristics of twice-exceptional children
Superior vocabulary
Poor social skills
Advanced ideas and opinions
High sensitivity to criticism
High levels of creativity and problem-solving ability
Lack of organizational and study skills
Extremely curious, imaginative, and inquisitive
Discrepant verbal and performance skills
Wide range of interests not related to school
Poor performance in one or more academic areas
Penetrating insight into complex issues
Difficulty with written expression
Specific talent or consuming interest area
Stubborn, opinionated demeanor
Sophisticated sense of humor
High impulsivity

(20,998 posts)...although not all of it has been verified as true, NONE OF IT has been shown to be false. Page may call the Steele Dossier anything he likes, but the fact of the matter is that bonafide intelligence professionals of high caliber and professional standing created the dossier. And when it comes to "dodgy," Page needs to look in a mirror.

Maybe he got kicked in the head by a camel.
