Can we please remember that this has been going on EVERYWHERE forever? It's like men that abuse think it's just ok to do it. Almost a normal thing. Everyone does it. I keep thinking in my head that they are actually thinking that that's what children are for. That kills me. My sisters an I were all sexually abuse at very young ages. Nothing was done. We certainly didn't make the headlines. It's going on everywhere, in every class, all the time.
But, all we hear is which famous person that just got ratted out. As well they should! But, I seriously doubt it's any more rampant in Hollywood than it is in the midwest. It's like the norm. I don't understand how they can think that way. I don't even know if this is making any sense. I've been a complete psychological mess all my life so, I'm probably just rambling at this point. But I DO have a point. It's happening everywhere. Always has. Always will. That's what children are for...and my heart just keeps breaking and breaking.

(1,148 posts)like you and your sisters will find support where you couldn't before. Sexual predators are being exposed every hour and banished from their industries, if not jailed. The public is not impressed. All people deserve and require protection from the monsters of this world, especially children.

(17,855 posts)Workplace sexual harassment was "normal" for most women in the 60s, when I started working. Maybe before that, too. And certainly afterwards. But who dares to complain about their department supervisor at Walmart or the office manager at _________ or the shift foreman at __________? You needed the job, it was your word against his, and it happened even if you quit and found another job, because there would be someone just like him there, too.
Sexual harassment, abuse, assault -- it happened at school, on the job, in the home. It wasn't just the rich; it was the "powerful," and in most places it was the men who held the power.

(34,105 posts)It has to make an impact somehow because nobody ever listened to us individually. This has impact. It will continue for a while but hopefully the change is coming. If men could just stop and think of us as total, complete human beings on this earth for ourselves to decide who or what touches us it would be a help. We are of value, a value WE decide and we are not here for them.

And happens in every part of the planet.
And probably for much of history.
