Once you cross that line, placing party above the law, it doesn't matter how crooked your own people are. But their tell is obvious, call the other side worst crooks to justify supporting your criminals.

(b) The amendments made by this act shall apply:

(1) To all crimes committed after January 7, 1985;  and

(2) To all crimes committed before January 7, 1985, for which no statute of limitations provided under pre-existing law has run as of January 7, 1985.

The bottom half says:

(b) The amendments made by this act shall apply:

(1) To all crimes committed after January 7, 1985; and

(2) To all crimes committed before January 7, 1985, for which no statute of limitations provided under pre-existing law has run as of January 7, 1985.

These allegations are about events in 1979. In 1979 the Statute of Limitations was 3 years for sex crimes. The limit for civil suits for minors was when the minor turned 21.

where you must have your parent's permission to marry if you're under 14, UNLESS you've been married before.

within the past decade, and the people of Alabama seemingly caring nothing about it, I'm fairly certain this will have no influence on the outcome of the Senate race there. Alabama Republicans are holy as hell when it comes to regular people, but not when it comes to their Republican politicians. You see, even if they pretended to care, that would imply some guilt on their holiest of holies: their "family values, god and country Republican politicians". That cannot happen in Alabama. It just can't. Otherwise they'd have to admit to being the total hypocrites they obviously are.
