MSNBC Morning Joe just said Bannon was a Navy Captain

That's a damn fucking lie.

He served for 7 years. At most, he was a fucking lieutenant.

It takes a minimum of 23 years to make Captain.

Bannon is enough of a fucking embarrassment to the Navy and Naval Officers everywhere, without elevating him to one of the most prestigious ranks in the greatest Navy in the world.

Nice fact checking there morning blow

He was a Lieutenant O-3. If course an O-3 in all the other branches except the Coast Guard is a Captain, but there is a huge difference between a Navy Captain and one in all the other beaches, and I found out when I worked my first joint command... when someone says “Captain so-and-so says this is a priority” I had to check what branch that Captain was if I didn’t know before I determined how much a priority it really was. You only make that mistake once...

A navy lieutenant wears the same insignia that a captain in the Marines, Army and Air Force wears. He saw the two bars and said captain, not understanding that captain in the Navy (and CG) is a full bird colonel in the other branches. This is a mistake someone who claims to support the military and has been involved in our national government as a house member should not make.

Basically, the guy who runs the ship and in the top 3% of all enlisted Navy.

Please thank him for his service for me. When the going got tough, we Sailors always said; ask the Master Chief

There is a huge difference between an Army or Marine Captain (O3) and a Navy Captain (O6)

Navy Captain is one rank below Flag (admiral) rank. Navy Captains are the folks that are commanding officers of nuclear Aircraft Carriers, major Naval Air Wings, Nuclear Submarine Squadrons etc.

Bannon is not qualified to carry your Master Chiefs jockstrap

He doesn’t talk about his navy service much and when he does, it’s usually in the context of how much he didn’t know going into it and what he needed to learn to get by. Like getting along with and learning respect for people from different places, backgrounds, etc.

One of the greatest parts of serving for me was the exposure and interaction with people from all different backgrounds, cultures and life experience.

It helped keep me young and exposed this classic rock fan to everything from country to punk to metal to reggae.

Probably never would have heard of bands like Lo Fidelity Allstars, or The Butthole Surfers if not for the Navy.

promotions up to O-3 are automatic (or used to be) - unless one screws up.

O-4 and up promotions are board recommended/approved.

We used to say that you had to try to not make O4.

For some reason, Steve didn't make it. Probably means he was as deplorable as a Navy Officer as he is as a human.
