Voter suppression in Virginia

Here is what is happening in Stafford County: Republican Bob Thomas narrowly beat Democrat Joshua Cole to represent the 28th District in Virginia’s House of Delegates. Thomas won by 104 votes. " Regarding the military voters, apparently their ballots arrived at the Electoral Board’s P.O. Box on Tuesday (Election Day), but were not picked up until Wednesday (!). And on that “technicality,” the Stafford County Electoral Board apparently is claiming that the men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to defend – among other things – our right to vote are NOT being allowed to vote in this election! Is this outrageous or what, especially on Veterans Day weekend?

As if that’s not bad enough, on the call, it was noted that the Stafford County Electoral Board is ALSO refusing to release the list of provisional ballots, which every other local Electoral Board does routinely, and which is what they’re supposed to do."

Here's the thing... State law requires local Board of Elections to be made up of 3 people. Depending on who controls the Governor position the party in power has a 2-1 advantage. That means that at least one Democrat is voting to reject these ballots and not release provisionals. In all likely hood gop would benefit from Military ballots, but this should not be the way we run elections. Every legitimate vote should be counted.

Donald Trump is the most useful tool we could dream of to suppress Republican enthusiasm to vote.

a case for the courts to decide, not some lame-brained county electoral board. That should go all the way to the Virginia S.C. if necessary.
