Roy Moore response shows GOP deserves to die: contempt for the facts & desire to win at all costs

Roy Moore response shows GOP deserves to die: Max Boot

This is the sorry culmination of two trends that have disfigured the conservative movement: contempt for the facts and desire to win at all costs.

You may have thought that Republicans had sunk as low as they could possibly go last year when they nominated for the presidency a man who was singularly unfit, morally and mentally, for that post. But, no, once you start racing to the bottom you never quite stop. There is always another level of degeneracy to be plumbed.

Enter Roy Moore, the Republican Senate candidate in Alabama. He believes that “homosexual conduct should be illegal” and that Muslims should not be permitted to serve in Congress. Now the Washington Post reports that this fearless crusader for “traditional values” had a habit of propositioning underage girls.

-snip-

Under common morality, of the kind that Moore claims to champion, his conduct is simply vile. You don’t have to be the parent of teenage girls — which I am — to be deeply disgusted. Yet he is utterly unrepentant. Moore simply waves off the allegations, claiming, “This garbage is the very definition of fake news and intentional defamation.” On his Twitter feed he has the gall to write, “Our children and grandchildren’s futures are on the line. So rest assured — I will NEVER GIVE UP the fight!” He even has the audacity to send a fundraising appeal to his supporters claiming that the Post article is evidence that “the forces of evil are on the march in our country,” and asking for a donation to fight the “Clinton-Obama machine.”

So far, much to their eternal discredit, Moore’s Republican backers in Alabama appear to be sticking by him. Paul Reynolds, the Republican national committee man from Alabama, told The Hill that he doesn’t trust The Washington Post: “If I’ve got a choice of putting my welfare into the hands of Putin or The Washington Post, Putin wins every time.” State auditor Jim Ziegler is willing to admit the charges are true, but he doesn’t care. He cited the Biblical story of Mary and Joseph — “Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus”— and concluded, “There’s just nothing immoral or illegal here. Maybe just a little bit unusual.”

Takes a lot of courage for women to speak out against powerful public figures like Moore

Barbara Boxer said on MSNBC tonight "R stands for Repulsive"

The corruption goes deeper than the will to win at any cost. It is their worship of money as god, and their unrelenting desire to acquire money by any means necessary. The desire to stay in power is their strategy to keep the $$$ rolling in. They will tell any lie, benefit any crony, launder money for any crook, even engage in treasonous foreign espionage to steal our tax money to line their pockets.

They are depraved, degenerate, and completely indifferent to the harm they cause. Greed is poison, and they have infected our society with it. Jesus didn't turn over the tables of the money changers in the temple for no reason.

Moore was already removed from the supreme court, TWICE

The GOP governor just resigned facing felony charges and 25 years in prison

The GOP attorney general just resigned facing indictment

The GOP speaker of the house was charged with multiple felony indictments and removed from office

The GOP Alabama senator this election is to replace, he is facing perjury charges in testimony before congress, and possibly treason against the united states

And now the NEW candidate to replace him is revealed to be a child molester

There may be more, I can't remember, too many GOP crimes and corruption to keep up with

It’s like working in a tire shop.

In addition to informing us that Moore is being noble like Joseph and martyred like Christ, his lawyerwas in TV tonight.

Claimed to have written proof that it was all untrue — which is a total shift from “didn’t do it all, and even if I did, she misremembered the her age (and also, apprentlu).

I think it should be asked again and again: WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT THEM?

Particularly when we have quotes - in writing, on the record, from some of their leading lights, declaring their allegiance to AN AVOWED AND ON-THE-RECORD INTERNATIONAL ADVERSARY, Vladimir Putin, if they had to choose between Putin and a widely-respected, award-winning industry-leading American newspaper. OR they're willing to blaspheme the Holy Family to justify their "opinion."

Maybe just a little bit unusual.”

THIS is why I don't feel ANY obligation at all to "understand" what the grievances of these assholes might be. I already understand them completely and perfectly. They're nothing but apostates and traitors.
