Sexual aggression or forced entitlement is an abhorrent act. Regardless of age or gender. With adults “No” should always be respected. Conciousness IS a requirement. And point blank respect for another’s wishes/choices should always be THE determining factor.
Regarding children, NEVER, for any reason, EVER. EVER.
Character and accountability are the unwritten rules of decency. American culture can too readily look the other way or place instant blame in alarming numbers when the topic of sexual behavior is mentioned, obliterating both in the process. A societal bipolar disorder most certainly.
In this country sexual behavior is the easiest of diversions and a most effective weapon. It’s also one of the biggest problems. We use sex to sell everything, but buy disrespect, abuse and appalling entitlement in the deal.
And why is it an ‘openly-hidden’ problem?Embarrassment? Guilt? Puritanical history? Shame? Fear? Ignorance? Weakness? Hypocrisy? Tool of control?
Most likely all.
And The Media embraces our obsessions.
