6. Comey's biggest problem was that he was trying to protect HIS reputation

I don't think he was deliberately trying to sink Hillary, but I think his first priority was covering his own ass.
He should've dropped the investigation, but would've been accused of bias. Had he not editorialized after delivering the initial report, it would've been more proof, especially after the Clinton tarmac meeting. He was more concerned with shielding himself from criticism than he was from doing the right thing.
And I truly believe that the Comey letter nothingburger was a no-win situation. It would've come out regardless, Giuliani was smirking his way across cable news for days before the letter, all but gloating that they had the goods on Hillary and it would change the race. And if it had been leaked from the NYC FBI office, nothing could've been done. Comey tried to get ahead of it, and defuse it, but it blew up in his face.
